If something comes out of the anus or you have a lump (wart), it may be hemorrhoids (piles) or external thrombosed hemorrhoids.
There are two types of hemorrhoids (piles): those formed inside the anus (internal hemorrhoids) and those formed outside the anus (external hemorrhoids), and they show different symptoms.
Hemorrhoids (piles) inside the anus (internal hemorrhoids) are wart-like swellings formed inside the anus. They cause little pain at the early stage, and when a lump (wart) comes out of the anus, it returns into the anus. However, when it becomes worse, a lump (wart) may remain outside or cause severe pain. If it worsens, surgery may be required.
Hemorrhoids (piles) outside the anus (external hemorrhoids) are wart-like swellings formed outside the anus due to the load at the time of a bowel movement, or other physical activity. They cause pain in most cases.
As care for a lump of hemorrhoids (piles), it is effective to relieve swelling by using a drug for hemorrhoids or to improve blood circulation by taking a bath.
A thrombus (blood clot) may suddenly develop and cause a large swelling and severe pain. This is external thrombosed hemorrhoids. They can be caused by too much burden on the anus due to sports, too much strain, stress, or constipation. Most of the cases do not require immediate surgery, but it is necessary to consult a specialist if the pain is severe or the symptoms are persistent.
